Attention Lower East Side and Chinatown Residents

Eligible low- and moderate-income households in ZIP Codes 10002, 10003, 10009, 10013 can get up to 12 months of their back rent paid, three months of future rent, and other assistance.

The Lower East Side/Chinatown Coalition: University Settlement, Cooper Square Committee, Chinese American Planning Council, and Good Old Lower East Side (GOLES) have joined together to help residents of the Lower East Side and Chinatown understand their eligibility and help them apply for the New York State Emergency Rental Assistance Program.

Residents of NYC are eligible if they meet ALL of the following requirements:

  • Fell behind in rent since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020
  • Qualified for unemployment benefits or have lost income and/or have an increase in expenses due to the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Have a monthly gross (before tax) household income at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI). View AMI table.
  • Have qualifying documentation. See tenant or landlord document requirements.
